On November 18, the Farmingdale Selectboard and Farmingdale Historical Society publicly recognized a few local volunteers for their help and generosity in the community. Many people attended the ceremony and light refreshments were served. Sandy Choate presented all the awards. 

Spirit of America awards went to: 

  • J&S Oil --  Justin Hewitt accepted and was given a 150th edition of Farmingdale History 1852-2002.
  • Linda Leet -- she was recognized for her service as a member of the School Board for at least 27 years.
  • Jon Lambert -- he was recognized for her service as a member of the School Board for at least 13 years.

The Boston Post Cane went to:

  • Ethelyn Purdy -- daughter Barbara Gipsion accepted a certificate and Ethelyn’s name was placed on the Boston Cane Plaque.  She also received a copy of the 150th edition of the Farmingdale History 1852-2002.
  • Hilda Brooks -- friend Shirley Taylor accepted a certificate and Hilda’s  name was placed on the Boston Cane Plaque. She also received a copy of the 150th edition of the Farmingdale History 1852-2002.
