Maine Camper Trailer Excise Tax Change

Effective July 29, 2026, camper trailers subject to excise tax will be taxed on the basis of length, rather than manufacturer’s suggested retail price (“MSRP”).

It is important to note that the camper trailers length is measured in its towable condition and does not include the hitch or accessories extending beyond the camper body.

 If you are registering or renewing a camper trailer after July 29, please be prepared to provide us with the trailer’s length.
